M.A Rangoonwala College of Dental Sciences of Research Centre, Pune organized a CDE on ‘Research Grant and Funding’ on 28th July 2022.
The Inauguration ceremony was presided over by Dr. Ramandeep Dugal (Principal), and Dr. Vivek Hegde (Vice- Principal). The traid of Lectures included eminent and experienced speakers in the field of Research Dr Ravindra Purohit, Dr Abhay Harsulkar, and Dr Nasreen Naeem Shaikh covering a spectrum of topics ranging from the Do’s and Don’ts of Research, How and where to apply for grants and Consent and its importance in Medical ethics and research. The organizing team Dr Surekha Chavan, Dr Samantha Thakur, Dr Khadija Memon and Dr Hussain Mookhtiar worked hard for the success of the event. The event Included 90 participants from different faculty’s including ZVM Unani college, Pune and M. Rangoonwala college of Physiotheraphy college, Pune. The CDE was well received and appreciated by faculty and students alike.

CYCLING DAY

On the 3rd June 2022, M.A.Rangoonwala College of Dental Sciences and Research Centre, Pune with NSS ( National service scheme ) organized a ‘ WORLD CYCLE DAY’ on the auspicious occasion of the 75th Anniversary of Independence ( Azaadi ka Amrit Mohatsav).The
government of India, Youth and Sports Ministry has initiated the program. The program is started with a prayer by Abdul Rahim (Sports secretary ). The introductory program was held at the college foyers. Dr. Surekha Chavan gave the introduction of World cycle day with objectives. Our principal Dr. Ramandeep Dugal emphasized the importance of fitness and physical exercises in daily life. The cycle rally was a total of 75 People including staff, Nonteaching staff, and student Participated. The cycle rally started from ( M.A.R.D.C -Shankar Sheth Road-Kashewadi-Babajaan Chowk-M.A.R.D.C). The refreshment was served during the event to all the participants. The event was concluded by a vote of thanks by our NSS Assistant Programme Officer Dr.Mandar Todkar. The event helped us learn the importance of cycling In our daily life as well as the importance of cycling and its effect on our health and promote a healthy lifestyle for all, as a
token of gift to our beloved motherland India.

BIO MEDICAL WASTE MANAGEMENT

A field trip at the biomedical waste management centre


On 7/6/22 , MA Rangoonwala dental College held a field visit to the bio medical waste
management center managed by the Pune Municipal corporation (PMC) in Pune. The event
showcased the necessity of biomedical waste management and gave an insight to how one must
ensure efficient and safe waste disposal. The centre was equipped with state of the art machinery
along with a well trained staff who guided us and showed us the various techniques and methods
of disposal. The event was a success with over 30 volunteers including students and staff. By the end of the event we were left with an understanding of the importance of biomedical waste
management and how to play a role as dentists to ensure we perform our duty with responsibility
and safety.

TREE PLANTATION DRIVE HELD AT M.A. RANGOONWALA COLLEGE OF DENTAL SCIENCE AND RESEARCH CENTRE, PUNE-01 UNDER M.U.H.S. DAY
A Report

MAHARASHTRA UNIVERSITY OF HEALTH SCIENCE DAY (M.U.H.S. DAY) WAS CELEBRATED AT M.A. RANGOONWALA DENTAL COLLEGE AND RESEARCH CENTRE ON 10TH JUNE’22 WITH GREAT ENTHUSIASM. A TREE PLANTATION DRIVE WAS ORGANISED BY COLLEGE NSS UNIT ON THE AUSPICIOUS OCCASION OF 75TH ANNIVERSARY OF ‘AZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV.’ THE MAIN OBJECTIVE OF THIS EVENT WAS TO INCULCATE ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS AMONG STUDENTS AND TO INCORPORATE ENVIRONMENTAL SOCIAL GOVERNANACE BY THE COLLEGE.

THE EVENT COMMENCED FROM 10 AM ONWARDS. ALL THE STUDENST, TEACHING AND NON-TEACHING STAFF MEMBERS GATHERED NEAR THE ASSEMBLY AREA. FLAG HOISTING WAS DONE BY OUR RESPECTED PRINCIPAL DR. RAMANDEEP DUGGAL AND REGISTRAR SHRI R.A. SHAIKH. FOLLOWING IT, M.U.H.S. ANTHEM WAS PLAYED. TREE PLANTATION DRIVE STARTED FROM 10:30 AM ONWARDS. THE STUDENTS AND STAFF MEMBERS SELECTED EMPTY SPACES IN THE COLLEGE GARDEN AND VERANDAH TO PLANT SAPLINGS IN A WELL ORGANISED WAY. THE SAPLINGS WERE SUPPLIED BY PUNE MUNICIPAL CORPORATION. IN ORDER TO RESTORE THE ECO BALANCE OF THE AFFORESTATION DRIVE WAS TAKEN WITH ALL SERIOUSNESS. THE FIRST SAPLING WAS PLANTED BY OUR PRINCIPAL DR. DUGGAL FOLLOWED BY REGISTRAR SHRI R.A. SHAIKH AND MEMBERS OF STAFF. A TOTAL OF 25 SAPLINGS WERE PLANTED BY FIRST YEAR UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS UNDER INITIATIVE OF ‘ONE STUDENT ONE TREE.’ THEY WERE INSTRUCTED TO NURTURE THEM TILL THE COMPLETION OF THEIR GRADUATION AND THEN HAND THEM OVER TO THE NEW STUDENTS. EVERY STEP OF THE PROGRAM WAS APPRECIATED BY THE ADMINISTRATION. THE PROGRAM CREATED A GREAT STIR AMONG GENERAL PUBLIC TOO.

SUCH LITTLE STEPS TAKEN TOGETHER BY THE COLLEGE AND STUDENTS WILL SURELY HELP IN FOSTERING STRONG MENTAL AND SOCIAL HEALTH AMONGST STUDENTS SO THAT THEY CAN CONNECT WITH THEIR PEERS, THEIR ELDERS, THEIR COMMUNITY AND THEIR ENVIRONMENT.

M.C.E. Society’s M. A. Rangoonwala College of Dental Sciences and Research center, Pune is dedicated to the cherished memory of Mr. Mohammed Ali Rangoonwala, a great social worker and philanthropist. M. A. Rangoonwala had a passion for social work and education for the masses. In all his philanthropic organizations, his motto has always been “Service to Humanity”. The objectives of his charitable organizations are to help in the education and upliftment of indigent and deserving people regardless of race and religion. Mr. P. A. Inamdar, President M.C.E. Society is recognized for a wide range of work in the fields of education, construction, and philanthropy across the country. Based in Pune, he has come a long way and the journey has been possible only because he invested his best in everything he believed would enhance the education system, society and consequently contribute positively to the growth of our country. The foundation stone of our college was laid on 21st November 1998 at the hands of Mrs. Banobai Rangoonwala and Mr. Asif Rangoonwala. Meticulous planning and execution with swiftness and precision by Mr. P. A. Inamdar, President of M.C.E. Society made Mr. Rangoonwala’s dream a reality and the M. A. Rangoonwala Dental college was inaugurated on 11th November 2001 by Mrs. Banobai Rangoonwala and Mr. Asif Rangoowala at a function presided over by Hon’ble Digvijay Khanvilkar Health Minister of Maharashtra. The college started an undergraduate BDS course in the year 2001 and a postgraduate MDS course across 8 subjects in the year 0000 and has come a long way since then. The college has international certification courses in maxillofacial prosthodontics and diploma courses in dental lasers and endodontics in collaboration with the international universities. The college has numerous research projects and publications to its credit. The students have been securing university ranks

every year and have shown equal enthusiasm for extracurricular activities and sports. Also, nothing makes us prouder than the success of our Alumni. Rangoonwala students have a history of achieving their dreams and soaring beyond boundaries. We will continue to work relentlessly towards our goal to lead and transform the way dentistry is taught and practiced. We are moving ahead in our mission to serve the community and give back to society by making sure of complete professional grooming of our students so that they become better professionals and even better humans.

It is a great pleasure for me as the Principal of M. A. Rangoonwala College of Dental Sciences and Research centre to welcome you to our website – a glimpse into our college and hospital which is a place of learning, growing and imbibing knowledge. 

                  The foundation stone of our college was laid in 1998 and the college started a undergraduate BDS course in 2001 since then it has come a long way from an undergraduate Institute to postgraduate Institute par excellence, with our students securing University Ranks every year. With the fast-paced change in dentistry, poor oral health is more than just a tooth problem and therefore, we have been following the aspirational vision for the Dental College and Research Centre of the future:

We have channelized the enthusiasm to achieve this vision and continue with our mission of improving the oral and systemic health of the community through education, research, patient care and hard work. We have responsibility toward our current and future students, our patients, our faculty who have built their careers here and definitely to our dedicated supporting staff who work so hard to keep our operations moving and to our local community and beyond. A Rangoonwala College of Dental Sciences and Research centre has all the facilities to deliver the knowledge and success in your professional journey. I am proud to say that in addition to Undergraduate and Postgraduate Courses, we are also running a Certification course in Maxillofacial Prosthodontics in Collaboration with IMPT, UK; Diploma in Dental Laser in coordination with SOLA (Society of Laser Application) and Faculty from the University of Vienna, Austria. Our College is also recognised as IGNOU centre for Diploma in Endodontics. We are also successfully running a student Exchange programme for our students with Kings College, London. We inculcate that habit of critical thinking, through research in the minds of our young students. I am proud to say that we have successfully transformed our dreams into reality and the credit for this goes to the selfless commitment and hard work of our Management, Teaching Faculty and Support Staff
