Paedodontics  and Preventive Dentistry is an age-defined speciality that provides both primary and comprehensive preventive and therapeutic oral health care for infants and children through adolescence, including those with special health care needs. Over the last decade new facets have become integral to the subject such as early detection of caries lesion, comprehensive preventive measures against caries, laser dentistry and use of various aids for behaviour management. Our department gives utmost importance for helping the kids alleviate their anxiety and prepare them for the dental procedures needed for them. 

Our department feels immense pride for having some eminent pedodontists with more than 20 years of experience, with great depths of both, academic and clinical knowledge. Our faculty has represented the college in various national & international platforms and have numerous publications in reputed indexed journals.  

Our department has separate working clinics for undergraduate and postgraduate students. The undergraduate and postgraduate students take part in daily case discussions and are given regular live demonstrations in the clinics. 

Central sterilization room looks after overall sterilization & disinfection of instruments. In addition to this there is a separate preclinical work area with a well equipped laboratory for the lab work, a radiology room with conventional as well as digital radiography equipments, a conscious sedation room where nitrous oxide sedation and oral sedation is practised as needed. There is also an isolation room for specially abled children and a play area for kids to help them get comfortable with the dental office environment. We have a separate seminar room where there are daily seminars and journal clubs and special cases presented by the postgraduate students. This helps the entire department to keep up with the current trends in the field. 

Our aim is to help the postgraduate students to become efficient pedodontists and help the undergraduate students to carry out basic Paedodontics  dental procedures, once they step out of the institution.
