Periodontology

The Department of Periodontology is a clinical speciality that focuses on the health of your periodontium-the tissues that support your teeth and treats the conditions that affect them such as bleeding, bone loss, bad breath, receding gums and various other periodontal diseases and conditions.

This is the only speciality that focuses on both the soft tissues and hard tissues, which makes it a prime speciality to depend on, for all other branches in dentistry.

Our department boasts of highly qualified and dedicated faculty members who are national and international speakers of repute and having a vast clinical experience with a passion for teaching and research. This is reflected in the wide range of clinical cases and scientific work being done in the department.

Our undergraduates in the BDS program are trained from third year to use basic instruments and ultrasonic scalers, and carry out non-surgical periodontal therapy. They are encouraged to take up short term projects and also publish their work in reputed journals and participate in various scientific programmes and conferences.

Apart from our BDS programme, we have 6 seats per year for our Post graduate programme. Our Post graduate(MDS) programme include extensive training in academic and clinical work including interdisciplinary work. Post graduates are trained in all aspects including microsurgical and magnification assisted and laser assisted; procedures and dental implants. We encourage them to do research projects and publish it in reputed journals and participate in various scientific programmes and conferences.

Apart from required infrastructure, we have dedicated undergraduate and post graduate clinics, workstation for post graduates, seminar room, advanced surgical section and implant section in our clinical area.

We also boast of having advanced equipment like laser unit, centrifuge for PRP and piezo electrical unit and microsurgery kits etc.
